The Importance of Family: The De Angelis Family at Restaurant La Capannina – Part Two

The De Angelis family is the true strength of Restaurant La Capannina; their dedication and unity are reflected in every aspect of the restaurant, making it the ideal place for those who, on the Island of Capri, want to experience the taste of good Italian cuisine and the hospitality that has always distinguished our island. The adventure of Restaurant La Capannina began in 1931. The two founders, Francesco and Teresa, shared a passion for cooking and hospitality; a passion they passed on to their son Antonio, who, together with his wife Aurelia, continued on the path paved by his parents. Today, the current owners of La Capannina are the grandchildren of the founders. Francesco, named after his grandfather, has been a constant presence at the restaurant since he was a child, bringing bread baskets to tables and clearing them for the next customer. Today, Francesco plays a crucial role in the organization: he supervises the kitchen, helps in the dining room, and manages the store. His sister Renata became permanently involved in the restaurant after her studies in 1988, taking over the management of the wine shop. The decision to open the shop stemmed from a specific request from customers who, delighted by the wines they tasted at the table, wanted the opportunity to take them home. Since then, the wine shop has been Renata’s domain: over time, she has become a great expert in this sector, growing it with wise purchases, the result of commitment and research. Finally, we arrive at the fourth generation represented by Renata’s sons, Andrea and Piero. They carry on the tradition of La Capannina with passion and dedication, keeping alive the family spirit that has always characterized this place where taste meets Caprese hospitality.
