The Cuisine of Restaurant La Capannina: The Home of Authentic Caprese Flavors

Restaurant La Capannina is an unmissable stop for anyone wanting to experience a meal in true Caprese style. Located in the heart of Capri, the culinary wisdom of the recipes offered has been passed down through generations. The menu is a tribute to the rich variety of Mediterranean cuisine. Among the first courses, the Caprese ravioli, classic homemade pasta filled with Caprese caciotta and seasoned with tomato sauce and fresh basil, following the grandmother’s recipe, are certainly among the most requested specialties. Other dishes such as scialatielli with seafood or tagliolini with truffle are also a must-try. This season, chefs Giovanni and Bruno particularly recommend handmade spaghetti with shrimp and zucchini blossoms, a recipe that combines the freshness of the sea with the delicate flavor of vegetables, creating a burst of taste that conquers every palate. Restaurant La Capannina especially offers interesting seafood recipes, such as potato-crusted fish or calamari stuffed with Caprese caciotta, and much more. Following an event held in May in collaboration with the “That’s Amore Capri” festival, which Francesco is a part of, titled “Ancient Caprese Flavors – The Miracle of Cod,” featuring speakers Antonio De Angelis, father of Francesco and Renata and an emblematic figure of the restaurant, and Renato Esposito, a famous island historian, a new creation was born in the kitchen: cod ravioli. They are slightly larger than traditional ones, with a tasty filling of cod seasoned with puttanesca sauce. Every dish is made with great care and attention to detail, using only fresh and genuine ingredients selected from local suppliers to ensure the highest quality. The owners of Restaurant La Capannina visit the market daily to guarantee the use of seasonal products, all with a specific goal: to offer a genuine cuisine that caters to a loyal clientele who love to gather at the table to enjoy the dishes in a convivial and familial atmosphere, similar to that of their own homes.
